The Every 28 Hours Plays (Seattle)
A Play reading and celebration to activate, cultivate, and shape the community around the injustices against Black people.

The Every 28 Hours Plays is a national collaboration inspired by our current Civil Rights Movement. The title focuses on the widely shared and contested statistic that every 28 hours in America, a black person is killed by the police, vigilante, or security guard. The collection of 80 one minute plays about this historic time were written by playwrights across the nation including David Henry Wang, Neil LaBute, Stew, Universes, Kristoffer Diaz, Jacqueline Lawton, Migdalia Cruz, Lisa Loomer, and Lynn Nottage among others.

In Seattle, community members, artists, activists, and organizations will participate in the reading, a ritual of strength, and a celebration of forward movement. We invite you to join us in engaging the action around this body of work.

This collaboration is brought to you by:
The Hansberry Project, CD Forum for Arts & Ideas, Langston, Northwest African American Museum and Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute
